云想衣裳花想容,春风拂槛露华浓。

The Beautiful Lady Yang, Three Poems

Li Bai

I

In clouds one finds her clothes and in flowers her face one sees;

She’s glittering as dewdrops on the rails caressed by spring breeze.

If on the Various-Jades Mountain can not be seen her trace,

She’ll appear under the moon in the Precious-Jade Terrace.

其二

一枝红艳露凝香,云雨巫山枉断肠。

借问汉宫谁得似? 可怜飞燕倚新妆。

II

She’s like a brilliant, red flower fragrant with dew congealed;

Than the one that brings showers in dreams, more charm she

does possess.

Who in the Han Palace would not to her precedence yield?

E’en would that light-weight beauty who sought help from her

new dress.

其三

名花倾国两相欢,长得君王带笑看。

解释春风无限恨,沉香亭北倚阑干。

III

Pretty flowers and the matchless beauty admire each other;

They make the sovereign smile when he looks at them t’gether.

To quench spring’s endless worry in spite of his highest power,

He goes with her to lean on rails north of the Fragrant Bower.
