There are two kinds of hippos.The pygmy hippopotamus stands no more than waist high to an adult human.It is about 6feet (about 2meters)long and weighs about 600pounds (about 270kilograms).This hippopotamus has greenish black skin.It lives in the forest,on or near riverbanks.
The river hippopotamus is bigger and has reddish brown skin.It can grow to a length of 16feet (5meters).That’s longer than most cars.A river hippopotamus can weigh more than 8,800pounds (4,000kilograms).That’s more than the weight of 45big men combined!
