While in Korea，Gov。Mike Smith of Utah was relaxing in the VIP lounge of the Seoul airport，awaiting his flight to Japan。At the same moment，his press secretary，Jenny Varela，was being told at the ticket counter that she had no ticket。
After insisting she had to make the flight because she was with a U。S。governor，an American embassy aide intervened。Varela got a standby ticket and boarded just before takeoff。
Regaining her composure，Varela went to the front of the plane to tell Smith of her adventure。He was not there。She later found out that the governor was told that he had been bumped by an urgent standby passenger。It was Varela。

VIP的用语起源
VIP的用语起源于上个世纪80年代，当时电子邮件在美国一些发达地区很流行，人们没事就发一封快捷简单便宜的邮件向朋友问候，一个人在发送邮件的时候不想让其他人知道邮件的内容所以就把邮件标名为Very Important Person。后来VIP这个词被沿用到现在。
第二种说法是在第二次世界大战后，印巴分制，其始作俑者蒙巴顿回印度，英国政府为保证其安全用VIP代表他。后来泛指贵宾。
还有一种说法是Very Important Person是二战时英国皇家空军用来运送高级任务的代码，最早是用于运送蒙哥马力到非洲去。
犹他州（Utah）
犹他州（Utah）是美国的一个州，位于美国西部。于1896年1月4日成为美国第45个州。人口约250万，约80%人口居住于首府盐湖城。主要由摩门教（耶稣基督后期圣徒教会）信众的后代和北欧移民的后裔组成。主要城市有盐湖城、奥格登和普若佛。
犹他州的名字源于印地安人某一部落的名称，意思是“山地人”（hill dwellers），面积为219，888平方千米，由落矶山脉、科罗拉多高原和大盐湖沙漠所盘据。1847年欧洲人开始殖民于此。1896年1月4日成为美国第45个州，并废除一夫多妻制。犹他州最早的称号是“蜜蜂窝的州”（Beehive State），原因是这里有许多冰蚀地形，看起来像蜜蜂窝，如今都成了国家公园保护区。1943年，二战期间，美国军方在犹他州门多奥维空军基地，训练一批B-29型轰炸机飞行员，日后成为广岛原爆的执行者。
