I have been a journalist for 10 years. I became tired and deeply unsatisified writing articles that did little or nothing to improve the lives of my readers. One should has a direction in his or her 20s, to establish ambition and responsibility; In ones 30s, he or she should have a clear goal; In ones 40s, one may undergo a major adjustment, which offers the opportunity to re-calibrate ones career and way of thinking. One can also set up new goals. Of coursethere will be opportunities and people can make some adjustments in ones 50s, but it is not a likely time to start again anew.
In 2004 I moved from Chengdu, Sichuan to Beijing. I started from a forum business in the big city. I thought that in a huge country of 1.3 billion people, under the opening policy, there must be a lot worth discussing, and so this type of forum business must be a good platform. But from what industry to start, grow and make a well-known name, is another question. At the time, Entrepreneurial forum and financial forum are very popular. One reason is because these two topics covered a wide range of businesses, the other is they attracted the business community where the money is. I saw these waters already well saturated and realized I would be better to find my own new sea. I should lead my own way, I should be different.
Following a period of intensive research and analysis I came to the conclusion that for any country to consider itself modernized in todays world, not only was it was necessaryto have undergone industrialization, but also in todays world, social advancement and scientific advancements were equally as important.
The beginning of the 21st Century saw the world flooded with “made in China” products but it also saw an increasing backlash against those“made in China” products that were of low quality and cheap materials. This along with other factors saw many overseas investors pulling out of China with many businesses going bankrupt.
This provoked some deep and serious thought on my part: Chinahas effectively just started its long journey of industrialization. This journey will be along and tough one, with few short-cuts , and little choice other than to complete it, in order to maintain its place on the worlds stage. Industrialization is a relatively new thing for China and we need overseas’ investment, overseas’ technology and advanced experience to manage and run modern businesses. Despite the challenges of massive population and poverty there is no choice but to complete this journey.
As an emerging power with such a big population, our economicgrowth must be in conjunction with themanufacturing industrys growth.Despite the fact at that time people felt manufacturing was important, not many organizations promoted itsdevelopment or studied it seriously. Research papers of manufacture industry werealso very rare. Thus it was here I found my position: I undertook to build a platform where Chinese manufactures couldtalk with their counterparts in the world. The platforms purpose being to make a better environment for manufactures in both domestic and international business. I believe it is only a matter of time before China will be eventually turned into the manufacturing center and a manufacturing major power in the world. When we consider the reality of industrial expansion in China, and the lack of competing power, we focused on making an “Asian Manufacturing Forum”.
From 2006, we successfully ran our first Asian Manufacturing Forum, and successfully ran them for the next 6 years. Over 4000 guests from Europe, America, and Asian attended our annual meetings. Our forum is recognized, and maintains its own influence, in the world. According to the new issues in manufacturing, I published articles based on deep research. Our material has been quoted by many local government offices and international organizations.
When the whole manufacturing facing industry faced serious upgrading issues, 3D printing, robotic and intelligent equipment, new generation of information techniques and intelligent materials, provided a wider space of imagination. Now it is 3D printings time. From thispoint, the trend, timing and peoples input made it a key point for the kick start of a new technique.
In 2013, in the forum of “the third industrial revolution”, Ihad my first contact with 3D printing. I feel so fortunate to have a chance to be part of it from its earliest days. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to start the China 3D printing technology Industry Alliance and World 3D printing technology Industry Alliance. We ranthe World 3D printing technology expo successfully hat year. I feel well prepared. I caught a rare opportunity and integrated the resources of the 3D printing industry; contributed to the 3D printing industrialization, and have emerged as an organizer and facilitator of the field.
On my wayadvancing in this field, I receivedsupport from experts and leading enterprises. They believe I have brought China 3D printing forward, achieving literal break-throughs, I am a recognizedcontributor to this.
