汉女昔造胡笳声，一弹一十有八拍。
胡人落泪沾边草，汉使断肠对归客。
古戍苍苍烽火寒，大荒阴沉飞雪白。
先拂商弦后角羽，四郊秋叶惊槭槭。
董夫子，通神明，深山窃听来妖精。
言迟更速皆应手，将往复旋如有情。
空山百鸟散还合，万里浮云阴且晴。
嘶酸雏雁失群夜，断绝胡儿恋母声。
川为静其波， 鸟亦罢其鸣。
乌珠部落家乡远，逻娑沙尘哀怨生。
幽音变调忽飘洒，长风吹林雨堕瓦。
迸泉飒飒飞木末，野鹿呦呦走堂下。
长安城连东掖垣，凤凰池对青琐门。
高才脱略名与利，日夕望君抱琴至。

Once a Han Lady composed on the Tartar pipe
A tune， a melody of eighteen-stanza type.
It moved the Tartars to tears that wet border grass
And grieved the Han envoy who saw her homeward pass.
The ancient posts there are wild， and beacon fires cold grow；
Gloomy is the vast wasteland and flies the white snow.
As you first Shang string and then Jue and Yu stings pluck，
All autumn leaves around are with deep fright struck.
Master Dong， your playing is full of magic power sheer
That makes mountain spirits come and stealthily hear.
You are skilled in your control of speed fast or slow；
There seems to be feeling in each pluck to and fro.
Scatter and soon flock ’gain， those birds on hills empty；
Dark and then bright， are clouds floating ten thousand li.
A young wild goose moans for being scattered at night；
The Tartar child cries for mother being not in sight.
Calm down， the thundering billows of the rivers；
Come to a sudden stop， the cries of birds divers.
From Wuzhu tribe， her home is at a distant land；
Her griefs rise with the Luosuo City’s dust and sand.
Suddenly， unrestrained the suppressed tune becomes，
As in trees long winds blow or on tiles the rain drums.
On the trees’ farthest parts， gushing fountain sprays fall；
Wild deer cry and run along the foot of the hall.
Chang’an city walls link up with the Palace East Wall；
The Phoenix Pool faces the Gate of Blue Carves tall.
A talented scholar， on fame or wealth not keen，
Is expecting you day and night to come with your Qin.
