Cultural Landscapes Worth a Visit 值得一逛的人文景观

Independence Park of Sao Paulo

On September 7, 1822, Pedro, the regent of Brazil, protested the policy that the Portuguese Parliament restored Brazil as a colony, and announced that Brazil would be independent. The Independence Park of Sao Paulo was built to commemorate this important historical event. It was completed in the 100 anniversary of the independence of Brazil, in 1922.

The large bronze in the end of the monument is the great Pedro, it’s great PedroⅠ. On the top of the monument is the magnificent scene of PedroⅠarmied into Rio de Janeiro. The underground tomb was buried with the remains of PedroⅠand the Queen. The monument torch will never be put out throughout the year, echoing with the Brazilian national flag.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul’s Cathedral was built in 1913, completed in 1954. Its predecessor was the colonial-era cathedral, the project designed by the architect Arnold Maximilian. Although it was rebuilt on base of the original church, it maintains the characteristics of Roman-style church of Constantine.

The underground tomb stood the coffin celebrities such as former Indian chief. Each glass window reflects the Bible on various religious topics.

Each square in front of the church is a grand religious procession starting point, the “beginners” of the center is the starting point that measure the distance from Sao Paulo to other cities.

St. Paul’s Palace Museum

St. Paul’s Palace Museum is a khaki-colored rectangular building, built in 1885, completed in 1890. At first it was the Brazilian Independence Hall, into a museum in 1895.

The museum has a Renaissance style palace, a total of three floors, rich collections. For example, Brazil images marking the independence, articles and documents, Portuguese nobility everyday life from 19th to 20th century.

Sao Paulo Museum of Contemporary Art

Sao Paulo Museum of Contemporary Art is the largest of Western art museum in Latin America in the twentieth century. It was built in 1963, with a very important collection of more than five thousand pieces of contemporary art, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, painting, pottery and a half knit.

Julia Bridges Railway Station

Julia Bridges Railway Station was built in 1938, is at the beginning of the city of Sao Paulo’s main train line. It followed the American station mode.

In 1997, Sao Paulo Department of Culture moved to it, and opened the most modern international concert hall, Sao Paulo Concert Hall. Then Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra have a fixed place of practice and performance.

Julia Bridges Railway Station is a milestone in railway history in Solomon Cabana, and one of the most beautiful buildings in St. Paul.

Senna Tomb

Senna was born in 1960, known as "the most perfect racing driver". Respectively in 1988, 1990 and 1991, he won the world series of racing championship, got the Triple Crown. Unfortunately, on May 1, 1994, he died from racing accidents in the San Marino Grand Prix.

Senna’s tomb is located at the highest place in St. Paul Moran, next to a yellow species of the pillars. Tourists come to Brazil will not forget worship him.

Sao Paulo Opera House

In early 20th century, St. Paul’s position in South America got gradually in importance, so the Government began to build a luxury landmark Opera House in the center of the city in 1903. Eight years later, the Opera House was completed, with the first production of Hamlet.

Sao Paulo style is similar to the Opera House in Paris, France. It has a perfect echo effect and an elegant building. It is one of South America’s most important opera houses, and is one of landmarks in Sao Paulo.

塞纳陵墓

塞纳生于1960年,号称“最完美的赛车手”。他分别在1988年,1990年和1991年,接连拿下世界赛车冠军奖杯,获得三冠王。遗憾的是,1994年5月1日,他在圣马力诺站赛车时发生意外丧生。

圣保罗歌剧院

20世纪初,圣保罗在南美洲的地位逐渐重要起来,于是政府于1903年在市中心的安亚卡巴巫区开始动工建立一座标志性的豪华歌剧院。8年后,歌剧院建成,上演的第一部剧目是《哈姆雷特》。

圣保罗歌剧院的风格类似法国巴黎歌剧院,回音效果完美,建筑高贵典雅。它是南美最重要的歌剧院之一,并且是圣保罗城市中的一个地标性建筑物。

Brazil Carnival

Brazil’s annual carnival was held in late February, for three days. It is a festival of joy, with the name “Greatest Show on Earth”, known as the world’s largest carnival.

In the carnival, everyone do not want to express themselves, but to the sake of others. Some men want to perform as a woman and some women try to jump within the fanatic dance, imitating others’ agile and lively.

Carnival has two characteristics. One is a “transvestite”phenomenon. People continue to change clothes, which makes the audience feel very strange. Another is its high degree of feminine frenzy, it attracted millions of domestic and foreign tourists every year.

Dress Etiquette

In the important government and business activities, Brazilians claim to wear a suit or skirt. In the general public occasion, a men at least wear short shirts and long trousers, ladies wear high-best sleeve dress.
