《蓝色的爱》按照英文原文的结构意思应译为“爱情是蓝色的”。但对于一首抒情为主的歌曲来说，这样的语言未免过于生硬，因此译为“蓝色的爱”。
这首歌曲刚一接触，便可感到其独特，与众不同。由安德拉·波帕作曲、勃莱克·伯姆作词的该首歌，独具慧眼把各种色彩涂描于爱情的感觉之上。但从翻译的角度看问题，却是带来了很大的难题，即要忠实于原文原意，又得使译文雅致、美妙。如果按照英文原文的意思按颜色译为准，按含义译也为准，英文关于色彩的词都不只意思单一。我们译时，即怕丢失了色彩的独具的象征意义，又担心含义表达不够贴切，两者难以取舍。
色彩及其含义是民族文化的一种体现。这种文化内涵各民族几乎是相通的。英文的blue即意指：“蓝色的”和“情绪低落的，沮丧的，忧郁的，烦闷的”等。其他关于色彩的词也都如此，即具有色彩含义，也体现情感，这正如人们在赠送鲜花时，要选择色彩的含义一样。

blue：sad；lowspirited.

green：the color of growing grass，jealous，not yet ripe.绿色，嫉妒，不成熟；greeneyed：嫉妒的；green with envy：充满嫉妒。
apart：seperated，away from each other.相隔，分离，离开，除去等。
例如：The two villages are five li apart.两村相距五里。

6．When we met how the bright sun shone.
=When we first met，the bright sun shone beautifully.我们初次相逢，阳光多明媚。
how引导一个感叹句，这是个常用表达情感程度的句型。how修饰形容词副词或动词，而修饰名词的感叹句用what引导。
例如：How kind you are！你多好啊！
What a nice song！=How nice this song is！多好听的一首歌呀！=一首多好听的歌！
7．Then love died，now the rainbow is gone.
=And after that，we ceased to love each other，now the rainbow just like our feelings in the past disappeared.
gone：go的过去分词，可作形容词用，表示：已去的，过去的，无可挽回的，死了的。
例如：The summer is gone.夏天已过去了。
Gone are the days （=The days are gone）when my heart was young and gay.我年少欢乐的日子已经一去不复返了。
这句话选自一首著名的美国歌曲《Old Black Joe》（老黑奴）的第一句歌词，相信不少朋友都知道。

颜色赋予人类的情感和思维正如五颜六色的色彩一样丰富多彩。大自然呈现的多种色泽美化了人类的生活，同时也增加了思想的空间，丰富了人类的语言。白色使人联想到纯洁、明快、纯真等。白色的圣诞节（White Christmas）更使西方人欣喜若狂。而我国传统的俗语“八月十五云遮月，正月十五雪打灯”的美好夜景不知给中华儿女带来多少美好想像。黑与白的基调是那么的明丽和暗淡，对比强烈，而红色叫人联想到的是火，热情、活力、隆重、健美、赤热、激怒、充血和紧张等等。灰色则象征阴郁、苍老、寂寞和苍白。绿色却象征新鲜、青春、生机、鲜嫩与和平，等等不胜枚举。英语中关于颜色的字词意义与我们汉语的基本相同，可说是大同小异。比如绿色，新鲜和平之意是共同的，而遥远、安息、安全等却是汉语含义，嫉妒这一意思也许是外来借鉴之意吧。这一切正是民族文化与传统长期来在生活斗争中的积淀和影响。
《蓝色的爱》一歌基调是忧郁苍白的，表现出曲中主人公爱情世界的低沉情绪，生机尽失的景况。色调的昏暗，曲速的缓滞，带给听众的是伤心和同情。失去了恋人，生活便失去了真义。心冷如冰，孤自哭泣，长夜难眠。由于伤心，爱情的夜幕降临，思念备至，却永世无望。关于色彩赋于人类情感的这首歌曲使我们想起了法国著名诗人兰波的那首不朽名诗《彩色十四行》，他运用通感手法把彩色与情感有机地结合，使人类思维的空间得以扩大和升华，那里有另一番风味和情思。
