红叶晚萧萧,长亭酒一瓢。
残云归太华,疏雨过中条。
树色随关迥,河声入海遥。
帝乡明日到,犹自梦鱼樵。
Inscription on the Post House at Tong Pass on
My Way to the Capital on an Autumn Day
Xu Hun
Red leaves rustle in the roaring wind of evening;
At the Post House a gourdful of wine I’m drinking.
Dispersed clouds drift their way back to the Hua Mountain;
And o’er the Middle Stripe Ranges waft scattered rains.
As far as to the Pass spreads the verdure of trees;
The River rumbles a long way into the sea.
To-morrow, the Imperial Capital I’ll see;
Still, a fisherman or woodsman I dream to be.
